Wegmans offered media members a chance to check out the Norwalk store on Thursday, Mar. 13. The supermarket at 675 Connecticut Avenue is expected to open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23.
Six photos provided by Wegmans gave a glimpse into the highly anticipated store.
Crews continue to work on the supermarket's exterior, with the iconic cursive logo hanging on a brick wall above the lower-floor window. Inside the store, tables were set up at the Market Café and freezers were set up in the frozen food aisles.
The 92,000-square-foot supermarket will employ around 500 people, with most hired locally. It will feature the signature departments Wegmans customers expect, including fresh produce, seafood, meats, bakery items, and a wide selection of cheeses and deli products.
Shoppers can find made-to-order meals such as sushi, pizza, sandwiches, and chef-prepared salads. The store will also carry about 500 varieties of beer and hard cider.
The property will include a two-story parking deck with 551 spaces, a solar canopy, and 12 Tesla charging stations. A pedestrian bridge will connect the deck to the store entrance.
Wegmans just recently celebrated its 112th and newest location across the Long Island Sound. The first Wegmans on Long Island officially opened in Lake Grove, NY, on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
A new Wegmans supermarket is also expected to open in Rockville, Maryland, on Wednesday, June 25.
